KriolaBooks 2.0 - KRIOL Emotional Literacy

Cultural Literacy: We publish and promote the voices of Cape Verdean women through KriolaBooks, ensuring our stories are documented, celebrated, and accessible to current and future generations.
Emotional Literacy: Through +KriolX, we facilitate workshops, community dialogues, and our "Canja Pa Nos Alma" (Nourishment for Our Soul) initiatives, using literature and culturally rooted experiences as tools for mental health, resilience, and emotional intelligence. We create digital content and immersive spaces where Cape Verdean women explore healing, self-expression, and transformation.
Astral Connection: +KriolAstro deepens our community bonds by connecting us with astrological wisdom through a Cape Verdean lens. We bring people together through book clubs, author events, and cosmic conversations that honor our ancestral knowledge while offering pathways to self-understanding and spiritual alignment.
Whether gathering around shared stories or exploring the stars through our cultural perspective, we foster meaningful dialogue that strengthens our connection to ourselves, each other, and the universe.
Together, we are not just publishing books or creating content; we are nurturing the souls that write, read, and seek themselves in our collective story.
Canja Pa Nos Alma official launch at National Library in Praia, Cabo Verde
featuring authors.

Canja in Kriolu is like the best rice and chicken soup you've ever had.
Canja Pa Nos Alma, is the Cabo Verdean Chicken Soup for the Soul.
Our first annual collection featured 27 female, male, and non-binary writers, expressing their selves in variants of Cabo Verdean Kriolu, English, and Portuguese.
The idea is to make Cabo Verdean sentiments accessible to people who in on way or another may be linguistically disconnected from a facet of our ever mixing culture.
We are an ecosystem that can only flourish with active participation from all those around, as we say in Kriolu "djunto nos e mas forti" together we are stronger.
KriolaBooks is a Platform for Cultural & Emotional Literacy, dedicated to publishing Cape Verdean voices that help readers understand themselves, their emotions, and their cultural identity. By amplifying stories that explore the emotional landscape of Cape Verdean life—from grief and joy to resilience and belonging—we create space for readers to develop emotional intelligence alongside cultural pride. Our platform empowers writers to share their truths while nurturing a community that values both feeling deeply and understanding cultural roots.
Beyond publishing, KriolaBooks creates community spaces for cultural and emotional learning. Through author events, writing workshops, and literary discussions—both online and in person—we facilitate conversations about emotional experiences, cultural identity, and personal growth. These gatherings help participants develop vocabulary for their feelings, understand Cape Verdean cultural narratives, and build connections with others navigating similar emotional and cultural journeys. By nurturing this vibrant literary community, we strengthen both emotional intelligence and cultural literacy across the diaspora and homeland.
As a donor to the Kriolabooks project, you have actively contributed to the promotion and dissemination of Cape Verdean women's literature. By emphasizing your involvement, you showcase your commitment to supporting marginalized voices, promoting cultural diversity, and fostering accessible literary environments.
